Continuing the series on what makes a GOOD manufacturing organisation we come to:
Manufacturing Effectiveness 9 – Production
A fully effective production section will, first, deliver it’s output ‘right, first time’ and on schedule; then it will manage its resources in such a way as to follow planned production tasks with exactitude, with 100% productive labour efficiency and with 85% man-hour utilisation. It will maintain a pristine working area and its tool management will be of the highest order. Its management staff will report potential causes of production problems proactively, and will explore new production management concepts with enthusiasm. Finally, the section’s management will be fully aware of, and will be able to maintain absolute control of, all batch and raw material movements within the section.
